The landscape for farmland has continued to change significantly in the first three months of 2023, according to The Times.
The start of the year has seen a record number of farms for sale in Britain, with many farmers deciding to diversify their offerings or sell due to rising costs and changing regulations.
Will Langmead, Landed Estates & Farms, touched on the trends of arable land value over the past few years and the impact this is having on sellers and the market.
“Sellers are feeling increasingly optimistic about prices after three years of undersupply (owing to a combination of agricultural policy reform and economic uncertainty because of Covid and Brexit)”, says Will. “As a consequence, more farmland has come to the market this year and is achieving record prices.”
