Chris is an experienced public and private company Finance Director who has primarily worked in the natural resources, telecoms and commodity trading sectors, assisting companies with corporate finance and fundraising as well as having a strong focus on financial reporting, internal controls, and corporate governance. He has a long history of helping businesses maintain sufficient controls and operating structures as they grow, restructure and transform and he works with the Middleton Finance team to facilitate this.
During his working-life, Chris has worked for businesses across six continents (all except Antarctica) on projects ranging from gold mining in Kyrgyzstan, Spain and Mexico, to building a 3G mobile network in Jamaica, to setting-up a commodity trading business in the UK. He is currently a Finance Director of Zephyr Energy PLC, an AIM listed company focused on oil and gas exploration and production in the U.S. (now operating in Utah and North Dakota). In every business, wherever it is, strong cash management is vital and Chris is supporting the management team to ensure that Middleton applies good corporate governance at all times.
Once he graduated from Durham University with a degree in Geography, Chris then qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers. From PWC he joined Cable and Wireless PLC where he held several senior finance positions including being a Director in the Corporate Finance team where he was involved in the company’s fundraising and M&A activity.
Chris is married with three children and his interests include long distance running (he completed two marathons in 2022), hiking and travelling.
