Tom Hudson was recently quoted in Mansion Global in an article about why country estates are great again.
“Fishing is often the focal point of the most sought-after sporting estates. Salmon fishing and red-deer stalking are the staples of Scottish estates, with the best found by the Tay and Tweed rivers in Perthshire.
The dream is a sporting estate with a little bit of everything: a salmon river, great red deer stalking and grouse. But these cost about £10 million and you only see about one a year come to market. More common are those on ‘spate’ rivers in the west of Scotland with a little deer stalking for about £3 million,” said Tom Hudson.
The article by Carol Lewis, who also writes for The Times, describes how global political and economic uncertainty is leading to an increase in the sales of grand country estates. This hasn’t been seen since the financial crash in 2008.
