The Disney+ adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s ‘Rivals’ has put the mid-Cotswolds in the spotlight, showcasing the region’s rural charm and historic homes. Areas such as Tetbury, Corsham, and Sapperton are attracting London buyers seeking space, community, and good transport links, with property values varying widely depending on location and period features. While the mid-Cotswolds offers a more relaxed, less commercialised feel than Oxfordshire, its villages maintain strong local character and appeal for those wanting a country lifestyle within reach of the capital.

Our Cotswolds advisor, Gemma Maclaran, reveals in The Standard: “What I love about the mid-Cotswolds is that it is a little less manicured than Oxfordshire. It is very rural and the villages tend to have fewer second homes, so there is a really good sense of community. It has got a relaxed, outdoorsy feel.”

When comparing Corsham to Tetbury, Corsham has a charming centre and great schools, but much of the housing is modern. As Gemma says, “it has not got the same cachet as Tetbury, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a lot going for it, and it is very good value for money.”
