A walk around Bath, with Middleton Advisors.

We act on behalf of private clients searching for the perfect property in the UK countryside. Whether you are moving out, moving back or moving up, Middleton can help you find the house of your dreams. Often, we help our clients acquire property that isn’t available on the open market, using our unmatched network to find that needle in the haystack, the one that matches all of your aspirations.

When we conduct a search, we’ll be looking to tick all of the boxes in your brief. Here, Middleton’s Ben Horne and Adam Buxton take a walk around Bath and pick out just a few of the attractions that might form part of an assessment for a client looking to move out of London but stay within commuting distance of the capital.

1. Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site – not the Royal Crescent, not the Circus, not the Roman Baths – but the entire city! And when electrification of the mainline is complete, you could walk out of your front door in Widcombe and into your office, or pied a terre, in Paddington Basin 75 minutes later.

2. Bath is on the southern edge of the Cotswolds AONB (area of outstanding natural beauty) – surrounded by villages such as Castle Combe, Lacock and National Trust  properties such as Prior Park, Bowood House, Stourhead.

3. There are five outstanding private schools in Bath itself – Prior Park, Monkton Combe, KES, Kingswood, Prior Park College, Royal High. Schools such as Millfield, Bryanston, Wellington and Downside are within an hour’s drive.

4. Bristol Airport is just 30-40 minutes from Bath and flies to virtually every European city and resort including Paris, Berlin, Munich, Rome, Zurich.

5. Thermae Bath Spa and the 5-star Gainsborough Bath Spa Hotel are the only places in the UK where you can bathe in natural thermal water. The latter offers Michelin-star dining too. Very relaxing!

6. Bath Rugby. The Rec is one of the world’s great club rugby destinations. It’s about to be developed, with world-class Grimshaw Architects appointed to design an arena to match the iconic city centre location.

7. From opera at Iford Manor to art at The Holburne Museum (with a wonderful garden café) and a whole range of Festivals, Bath is well served for culture.

8. The University of Bath is one of the UK’s top 10 Universities. It has outstanding sports facilities open to the public at the Sports Training Village where many Olympic athletes train.

9. Bath is a great cycling city – there are lovely road routes into the Cotswolds and Wiltshire, and off-road cycle paths such as the Two Tunnels, a Sustrans  route to Bristol and down into Somerset, and a 1.5km closed road cycling circuit too.
